Live, Work, Create. A little more than just New York street art.

Hi there!

My name is Micaela and I am in my fourth and final year of a double degree of Bachelor of Business (Advertising)/Bachelor of Media and Communication at “the university for the real world”: Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Throughout my teen years, I developed a passion for advertising and have since been excited to break into the industry. I think advertising is important to everyone and the ability to persuade people is a fascinating thing. I’ve not only been interested in the final product, but also the process of developing that “big idea”. Through my studies, I have learnt a lot about the industry and the processes and would love to build on that knowledge through experience.

I always knew I didn’t want a monotonous 9-5 job, and in advertising, no two days are the same. Advertising is creative, so every day I know I’ll be met with different personalities, learn new things and have different obstacles to overcome in figuring out the next big idea. It’s a dynamic and ever-changing industry and that gets me excited. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you angry, it makes you think “what the??” and it makes you change what you do.

I’m no stranger to hard work, and when it comes to it, I am more than keen to roll up my sleeves and get to work. Currently, I am a Communications Intern for TheUrbanDeveloper.com, a urban development and property news website. Each week, I write articles on developments and news for our readers. Some of my work from TheUrbanDeveloper and other projects can be see under the Portfolio menu.

I love to travel the world, immersing myself in different cultures, eating my way through countries and befriending any local that will talk to me. I have been fortunate to have travelled to many wonderful places that have moulded me into the confident, independent and driven person I am today.

In my downtime, I enjoy trolling the Internet – clicking on anything that catches my eye (particularly those funny viral videos and especially a good Vine…).

Hopefully over the course of semester, and beyond then, this blog will develop and you’ll get the chance to see what I am about.

This my Project ME.
